Sharks announce broadcast additions

A rotating cast of former Sharks will be heard on the radio this season.

The Sharks currently have two alumni taking part in game broadcasts — that number is about to increase. Owen Nolan, Curtis Brown and Kyle McLaren will all join Dan Rusanowsky on 98.5FM KFOX over parts of the 25th-anniversary season.

From the San Jose press release:

The trio will complement Hedican, the former Stanley Cup champion and fellow Sharks alumnus and Stanley Cup champion David Maley (@males8) throughout the season.

The good news: McLaren won't be playing for the Sharks this year!

The bad news: Well, actually there isn't any. It's cool that a growing number of former Sharks are taking up a part in the organization. Pretty soon we'll be making poor coaching hires based on a guy's tenure with the team, just like a grown up NHL franchise!

San Jose also announced that a greater number of preseason games will be broadcast in one format or another. You (hopefully) already know that tonight's game will be broadcast on CSN Bay Area and on NHL Network. Don't have a cable package? You're in luck. The first five Sharks preseason games will be streamed live at sjsharks.com. Neat! The last two games will be broadcast over the radio.
