Sharks clinch fourth consecutive playoff berth
It’s official: ‘Yoffs again this year.
The San Jose Sharks have clinched a spot in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs. While this has seemed inevitable for some time now, it became official Tuesday night, when the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Minnesota Wild.
Through 73 games this season, the Sharks’ record stands at 43-22-8 and their 94 points sees them sitting second in the Pacific Division, a single point behind the Calgary Flames. The Sharks are the third team to qualify for playoffs this season, after Calgary and the Presidents' Trophy winning Tampa Bay Lightning.
This is the fourth consecutive year the Sharks have made the playoffs. Going back a bit further, since Doug Wilson was hired as General Manager following the 2002-03 season, the Sharks have made the postseason fourteen out of fifteen seasons. In that time, the Sharks have won at least one round nine times, reached the Western Conference Final four times and played in Stanley Cup Final once.
