Let’s be honest: there haven’t been many iconic moments with the San Jose Sharks in this pandemic-shortened season. The Sharks have hovered around the bottom of the West Division and league standings, the team’s top players have all gone through dry spells and the goaltending is, well, what it is.
If there’s one thing to take away from the season so far, Erik Karlsson’s big week is certainly a stand-out for me.
There’s nothing more fun than Sharks Twitter when Erik Karlsson has a big game, and on Monday night, he scored two regulation goals against the Minnesota Wild, as well as the game-winning shootout goal. Getting to see Karlsson do his thing three separate times in one game? It’s rare and it’s beautiful.

Of course, it’s not just embarrassing Ryan Hartman in the shootout that got the hockey world’s attention. In the postgame presser, Karlsson sat cool and confident while chomping on an apple. When asked if his three-goal performance was the best offensive game of his career, he gave a simple, three-word answer: “Not even close.”
