Evander Kane suspended three games for elbowing

Evander Kane has been suspended for three games for elbowing following a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety. He has been suspended for elbowing Winnipeg Jets’ defenseman Neal Pionk in an incident that occurred at 13:17 of the third period of last night’s 3-2 win against the Jets.

Kane received a minor penalty on the play.

This is Kane’s second suspension of the season, his other coming during the first three games of the season for abuse of an official. As noted in the Player Safety video, this is his third suspension of his career and he was also fined $5,000 in December for elbowing.

This suspension comes on the same day that the Sharks placed Erik Karlsson on Injured Reserve for a broken thumb that will cause him to miss the rest of the season.
