Peter DeBoer talks Joonas Donskoi on 95.7 The Game

Earlier today Peter DeBoer was a guest on Mornings with Chad, Joe, and Lo, a daily sports talk radio show on 95.7 The Game.

DeBoer breaks down the Sharks‘ 4-1 series win against Los Angeles, talks about the depth between the veterans and rookies, and previews the second round matchup between either Nashville or Anaheim.

In the nine minute interview, DeBoer shows some of his personality that is hidden during pre and post-game pressers, along with other media appearances. Perhaps the best answer he gives is when asked about Joonas Donskoi’s game-winning goal against Drew Doughty and the Kings on Friday night which clinched the series for San Jose.

“Well that’s funny. I’m not sure he knows who Drew Doughty is. So I think that’s probably a good thing, if he knew and had seen this guy in the last five years he might have thought twice about it, but I think that’s the beauty of a young guy coming in. He’s from Europe; he’s from Finland. You know, his English is just okay. And I think he just goes out there and plays; he doesn’t worry about who he’s going up against. So, the lack of knowledge there was probably a good thing in that case.”

With the Sharks idle for the fourth consecutive day and with at least two more to come, DeBoer’s interview gives us some nice insight on what the expect from here on out during the rest of the playoffs.
