Joe Thornton returns to Sharks line up

He’s baaaaaaaack.

According to Paul Gackle of the Mercury News, Joe Thornton is not only skating during today’s Sharks practice, but is taking line rushes — all but guaranteeing that he will make his return to the Sharks lineup for tonight’s clash against the New York Rangers.

He will be paired with Timo Meier and Joe Pavelski on the first line.

Thornton’s last game was on October 5, an overtime victory against the L.A. Kings in which he had one assist. He then left the team prior to the New York road trip to go back to San Jose following an infection in his surgically-repaired knee. It was reported that he had a picc line, a long-term IV used to administer antibiotics, during recovery from the infection.
