Deep Blue Sea: Logan Couture on being a long-suffering Bills fan

Like any good Ontario boy, Logan Couture is part of the Bills Mafia. Now that the Buffalo Bills are one win away from their first Super Bowl appearance since 1993, Couture’s work/life balance consists of making sure he can follow along with the Bills game — even if he’s getting scores from the trainers during Sharks practice.

The Mercury News posted a Q&A with the Sharks captain, all about his Bills fandom. Since it’s a straight Q&A, I won’t give away too much, but here’s Couture’s earliest Bills memories:

Q: What are your earliest memories of watching the Bills on TV?

A: I remember watching Jim Kelly play, so probably in the 1990s. Guys like that. Thurman Thomas. And then as I got a little bit older, I remember them drafting J.P. Losman and being excited for him, and that didn’t work out. Then Trent Edwards, who is a Bay Area guy. I was excited about him. Throughout the years, Terrell Owens, and different players that have played for Buffalo.

The big memories for me growing up was just playing the Patriots and losing to them what seemed like every single time they played them and Tom Brady. So this year, it’s been nice not to see Tom Brady in a Patriots uniform.
