Sharks recall Trevor Carrick from Barracuda

Jacob Middleton, who the Sharks just recalled yesterday, is now on injured reserve.

The San Jose Sharks have recalled left-handed defenseman Trevor Carrick from the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda, the Sharks announced Saturday afternoon.

In a related move, Jacob Middleton has been moved to Injured Reserve. Middleton was called up yesterday after Dalton Prout was placed on IR with an upper-body injury. Middleton played only two minutes last night against the Vegas Golden Knights, taking a hit from Ryan Reaves that caused him to exit the game.

Carrick has spent most of his professional hockey career in the Carolina Hurricanes system. He played 71 regular season games for the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL last year, and skated in 16 playoff games as the Checkers became the 2019 Calder Cup Champions.

Carrick played his first game with the Barracuda last night, a 5-0 loss to the Ontario Reign.
