Sharks recall Jacob Middleton, place Vlasic on injured reserve

The Sharks have recalled 23-year-old defenseman Jacob Middleton from their AHL affiliate the San Jose Barracuda.

Middleton has played 29 games for the Barracuda this season, recording two goals and ten assists for 12 total points, which is tied for third in assists and points on the team at the time of his recall. Middleton is also slated to make his first AHL All-Star appearance as one of four representatives of the Barracuda in Springfield.

In a corresponding move to Middleton’s recall, 31-year-old defender Marc-Edouard Vlasic has been placed on Injured Reserve. Vlasic has not suited up since Jan. 2 against the Colorado Avalanche, when he tallied one assist in 17 minutes of ice time. The injury appears to be to his wrist.

Vlasic has one goal and 10 assists this season in 42 games played.

Vlasic’s Injured Reserve status does not appear to be retroactive.
