The San Jose Sharks have set the opening night roster for the 2024-25 season. While there were a few surprises in the mix, for the most part, it was the lineup that fans thought the team would ice as training camp neared its end. The Sharks don’t appear to be carrying an extra defenseman, instead opting to hold 15 forwards.
Forwards
Macklin Celebrini
Ty Dellandrea
William Eklund
Barclay Goodrow
Mikael Granlund
Carl Grundstrom
Danil Gushchin
Klim Kostin
Luke Kunin
Givani Smith

Tyler Toffoli
Alexander Wennberg
Fabian Zetterlund
Unless the Sharks go with an unconventional lineup, three of the forwards will have to sit out on opening night.
PuckPedia has a look at the most likely lineup for the Sharks and notes that there will be about $.9.1 million in cap space on opening night.

Non-Roster

Non-roster means that the player is unavailable. It could be for injury, illness or something else such as the birth of a child, a funeral, etc. Non-roster allows the player to practice with the team but they do not count against the 23-man roster limit.
Injured Reserve
Thomas Bordeleau
Logan Couture
Bordeleau was week-to-week at last check. When he’s recovered, it could throw a wrench into the Sharks’ plans. Then again, as we know, injuries happen and Bordeleau’s return could, coincidentally, coincide with another player dealing with bumps and bruises.
The Sharks will open the season on Thursday night at SAP Center against the St. Louis Blues. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m. There will be a free street rally on Barack Obama Boulevard from 4 to 7 p.m. and a Teal Carpet arrival by Sharks players.
