The road trip will not get easier for the San Jose Sharks, as the team heads to New Jersey for the second half of the back-to-backs. The Sharks will face the red hot New Jersey Devils tonight, a team that’s 6-1-0 for the season. New Jersey is at the top of the Metropolitan Division and hasn’t lost since the first game of the season, a 6-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Since then, the Devils have rolled through the Lightning, Blue Jackets, Panthers, Oilers, Maple Leafs and Wild, outscoring them 25 – 12. In other words, this is going to be a tough outing for the Sharks.
Of course, try telling any 19- or 20-year-old they can’t do something and they’ll tell you why you’re wrong. That’s the plus side of having a young team, and why Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith and company might have a chance tonight. Celebrini and Smith are likely still riding high from last night’s win against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, and the duo put together a combined nine-point night.
Jesper Bratt leads the team with 11 points in seven games. Jack Hughes has six goals in those seven games. Dawson Mercer is a team leading plus-seven and Brett Pesce is a team leading 21:27 of ice time per game. The Devils are dangerous throughout the lineup and will be a tough team to go against for the Sharks, especially with several days of rest. The team hasn’t played since Wednesday.
San Jose Sharks lines tonight
The Sharks don’t have a skate today because the team played in overtime last night. Since Alex Nedeljkovic played in the goal last night, it will be Yaroslav Askarov in the net tonight. As for the lines, we expect that since it’s the second night of back-to-back games, Michael Misa will sit, and Sam Dickinson will slot back in.
San Jose Hockey Now’s Sheng Peng reports that Head Coach Ryan Warsofsky emphasized that this was a planned day for Misa to sit, nothing to do with his play. Here’s what the lines are likely to look like:
Sounds like forward lines should be about the same, except Kurashev takes Misa's spot at center. Warsofsky has been happy with Gaudette on the wing.

How to watch San Jose Sharks at New Jersey Devils Oct. 24, 2025
The puck drops at 4 p.m. at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
Sharks fans can watch the game on NBC Sports California or listen on the Sharks Audio Network.
Devils fans can see the game on MSGSN or listen on Devils Hockey Radio.
As always, be sure to check back here at game time to talk about what’s happening on the ice and around the league. There are four games on the schedule today, all of them starting around the same time because that totally makes sense. I would say it’s because the first game of the World Series is starting today, but that’s happening in Toronto starting at 5 p.m. PT, so that’s not the reason.
