The San Jose Sharks hopped a short flight to Seattle yesterday to get ready for another showdown with the Seattle Kraken. The Sharks beat the Kraken 8-5 on Friday, taking advantage of a floundering Philipp Grubaur. It’s almost certain that Grubaur will not be in net tonight when the two teams play again, this time at Climate Pledge Arena.
The Sharks were outplayed marginally, but the team was not outscored, so that’s the good news. The Sharks will need to clean up its play and avoid penalties if it hopes to take the second game of this back-to-back series. The Sharks took six penalties yesterday and allowed two goals while down a player. At the same time, the team only drew one penalty.
As for the Kraken, taking care of the puck seemed to be the biggest message from Head Coach Dan Bylsma after the game. Bylsma was clearly downtrodden in his postgame interview. The Kraken have lost two tough games in a row and need to figure out how to turn things around quickly if the players even want a shot at the postseason. It’s clear that something needs to happen inside the lockerroom if Seattle expects a better result tonight.
San Jose Sharks lines tonight
While we’re not certain, barring injury, we don’t expect to see many changes in the lineup tonight. The players that were on the bubble, likely Klim Kostin and Ethan Cardwell, performed well last night, earning themselves another start.
Expect to see the same lines as yesterday with Mackenzie Blackwood in net this time around.
