The San Jose Sharks continue to make small moves to fill what the team sees as a hole in its prospect pool. The Sharks made another trade today, sending forward Oskar Olausson to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for right-shot defenseman Kyle Masters.

It’s the second right-shot defenseman the Sharks have obtained in the past 36 hours. The team also claimed Vincent Iorio off waivers from the Washington Capitals on Thursday. Iorio is expected to make his debut for the Sharks tonight against the Utah Mammoth, filling a hole left by Timothy Liljegren who was placed on injured reserve.
The Sharks need a win tonight. The team is, for the third season in a row, the last team in the league looking for that elusive first win of the season. Of course, the Sharks can avoid complete and total embarrassment if San Jose can pull off a win tonight.
San Jose will have a tough go of it. Utah has started the season 2-2-0. This is the team’s second game in a four-game homestand. The Mammoth started things off with a 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night. New addition JJ Peterka was one of the players who scored for the Mammoth, adding another scoring threat to an already potent forward group.
Also unveiled at the Mammoth’s home opener, the team’s new mascot: Tusky.

As for the Mammoth, here are the lines according to team reporter Catherine Bogart. It sounds like Liam O’Brien will play and Kailer Yamamoto will sit this one out. Look for Karel Vejmelka to get the start in the net with our old friend Vitek Vanecek backing him up.
