Sharks at Oilers (game 79): Lines, game thread and how to watch

The San Jose Sharks’ road trip continues in Edmonton tonight for the first of two bouts with the Oilers in the next six days. A win tonight will officially secure Edmonton’s spot in the postseason. While it’s all but a done deal, the Oilers are still mathematically fighting for the postseason. Edmonton is third in the Pacific Division this morning and staring down another showdown with the Los Angeles Kings.

As the Oilers gear up for the playoffs, Connor McDavid will get some playing time after missing three weeks with an injury. McDavid put up three assists in his first game back on Wednesday. That said, the rest of the team is working on getting healthy.

Jake Walman was a late scratch on Wednesday and is unlikely to play tonight. Goaltender Stuart Skinner will dress for the first time since he was hit in the head during a game on March 26. There’s no word on if he or backup Calvin Pickard will start tonight. Leon Draisaitl is expected to be back for the playoffs but hasn’t played since the April 3 game in San Jose when he left midway through the game.

For the Sharks, Mario Ferraro is injured and it sounds like Jan Rutta is healthy enough to play in his place tonight.

This is the third of four meetings between these two teams this season. The Oilers won the first matchup 3-2 on Dec. 21 and then followed that up with another 3-2 win on April 3. After tonight, the two teams will play again at SAP Center on April 16, the final game of the season for the Sharks.
