The Ottawa Senators are getting reinforcements tonight and it could be bad news for the San Jose Sharks. Brady Tkachuk, Josh Norris and Shane Pinto are all expected to return from injury. The trio has scored 51 of the team’s 160 goals this season, so this is expected to be a big boost to the offense.
The Senators have lost the team’s last five games; the Sharks are riding a seven-game losing streak coming into the game. The Senators need to snap the losing streak if the team wants to get back into the mix for the playoffs. As of this morning, the Senators were just outside the picture looking in. Ottawa has 62 points, four points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings, which both have 66 points and sit in the first and second spots in the wild card race.
Tim Stutzle leads the team with 59 points in 58 games this season. Despite a few games off due to injury, Tkachuk still leads the team with 21 goals. Norris is close behind with 19 goals.
Look for Linus Ullmark in the net for the Senators tonight. The last time he played was on Feb. 26, when the team lost to the Winnipeg Jets. Ullmark was tremendous in the loss. He stopped 38 of the 41 shots he faced and ended the night with .947 save percentage. Ullmark has a 12-11-2 record this season with a 2.66 goals against average and .912 save percentage. One of his wins came against the Sharks on Nov. 27, when he stopped 39 shots and finished the game with a .923 save percentage.
