A quick one today, but a pre-game thread where I'd like to see a little user involvement (which is the reason this is getting posted early).
What would you like to see from the Sharks tonight specifically, and on this upcoming road trip in general? Obviously I would like this to extend beyond the conventional "win em' all!", but if that's your prerogative then fire at will.
For me, I'm just going to paraphrase my previous conversation with Nael in the comments of this morning's post- partly because it's what I want to see, and partly (okay mostly) because I'm running late to meet a group of friends.
If we’re going to (wait for the inevitable pessimistic comment) break through the second round this year, I think this week’s test will highlight a lot of strengths/weaknesses that McLellan can focus on. Namely re-establishing the breakout and finding ways to get higher percentage shots- we’ve sort of sunk into a funk where we feel just throwing the puck at the net is going to get the job done.
Our forwards need to be stronger in front of the net as well; I can’t tell you how many times a puck has been floating outside the crease and an opposing defensemen will tie up their sticks. Credit where credit is due I guess, but those are the types of opportunities you need to capitalize on during April & May.
A little more killer instinct in front of the net would be a welcome addition to this week. Let's get this started on the right foot ladies and gentlemen. Let us know what you want to see in the comments.
Prediction: Sharks win 2-1. Goals by Milan and Lemieux.
Go Sharks.
