  • Still bursting from honeybaked hams, scalloped potatoes, and pecan pies, today’s post is going to reach the soaring heights usually associated with Grandmaster Plank’s Gameday articles. In fact, it’s going to be a boring and tepid affair that primarily consists of a link dump and some insignificant bullet points breaking down the night.
  • FTF Night At The Tank is just hours away. Prize information for our raffle can be found here, so make sure to bring some spare change if you’re looking to grab some post-Christmas goodies. We’ll be meeting at the Penthouse Plaza at around 6:15 PM for drinks and awkward face to face meetings with people from the internet.
  • We’d like to think Night At The Tank would be as comfortable as possible, but unlike our game threads, pants are unfortunately required. I know, I’m just as mad about it as you are.
  • Special thanks goes out to Scott Emmert of the Sharks organization and Jeff Cafuir of the Sharks Foundation. They were extremely instrumental in this process, and we couldn’t have done half of what we wanted to do without their help. We all owe them a big thank you.
  • Willie Mitchell will be skating in HP Pavilion for the first time this year, and I have to say, I’m feeling a little moist under the armpits in anticipation of the big night. Will he look up at The Penthouse Plaza and wink at me? One can only hope he will, because I sure as hell sent a lot of letters to him this summer.
  • Torrey Mitchell is out with a lower body injury and won’t be playing tonight, and I have to say, a lot of the female attendees must be feeling a little moist under the armpits in anticipation of the big night. Will he look down from the press box and wink at you? You probably hope so, because you sure as hell sent a lot of letters to him this summer.
  • Mitchell madness! It consumes us all.
  • Los Angeles is a good team, and are currently tied with San Jose for points (43) with one game in hand. The rivalry has definitely intensified over the past two seasons, and tonight’s matchup will be no exception. The Kings got their legs under them after the Christmas break by torching Anaheim 4-1, and the Sharks are coming off three days rest (two of which didn’t involve any skating/practice). The Sharks haven’t come out firing in the first period for the majority of the season, and against a strong Kings squad, that could be the difference tonight.
  • Jonathan Bernier got the start last night, so expect Jonathan Quick in net for LA. San Jose’s netminder? Flip a coin, then check WTC around noon. Mine came up heads, which means the Finnish guy is getting the go.
  • Jamie McGinn, your patience has paid off in spades. Tonight is the night you have chosen to wow all of the Night At The Tank attendees by scoring your first goal. We salute your monk-like devotion to the cause. What a guy eh?
  • A potential five game winning streak before hitting the road sounds delicious. Do it.

Prediction: Sharks win 3-0. Goals by McGinn, Jamie, and #64. Willie Mitchell is on the ice for all three goals.
