Sharks Recall John McCarthy, Assign Matt Pelech to Worcester

Only one game into the new season and the Sharks are already making moves as they sent Matt Pelech down to Worcester this afternoon.

Coming up in Pelech’s stead is 27-year-old John McCarthy, a forward who has played 51 games with the Sharks since the 2009-10 season. His last stint with the club was in the 2011-12 season where he took 10 penalty minutes, 14 shots and was a -2. McCarthy played all of last season in Worcester where he tallied 25 points in 65 games.

Pelech did not look great in last night’s game and took a pointless penalty with 27 seconds to go in the third period in the Sharks 4-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

McCarthy was drafted in the seventh round of the 2006 draft.
