Sharks Recall Nine Players

Just days after joining the Barracuda, the Sharks have recalled Troy Grosenick and eight others.

The Sharks have recalled nine players from the Barracuda, including Troy Grosenick and Bryan Lerg, just days after sending most of them down to join the minor league club's training camp.

Grosenick, Lerg, Frazer McLaren, John McCarthy, Micheal Haley, Ryan Carpenter, Karl Stollery, Jeremy Langlois, and Gus Young got the call up to the big show, presumably to give the Sharks some extra bodies for their last two preseason games. San Jose's training camp roster now consists of 35 players.

The timing of the move is interesting, since it's unlikely any of these nine crack Peter DeBoer's opening night roster. It's especially noteworthy because such a move would not have been possible last season with the AHL team in Worcester. With the minor league affiliate now sharing a building, the Sharks were able to send these players down for the first couple days of the Barracuda's training camp, where they'll all most likely spend most of their time this season. It sure beats the Worcester shuttle.
