Injuries have turned the Sharks legitimate forward depth in the organization into a weak spot, at the moment. Ben Smith left last night’s game after being struck by a puck, Logan Couture is gone for weeks, Joonas Donskoi is banged up, and Melker Karlsson has yet to play in a game – regular season or preseason. Also, Raffi Torres is still suspended for another 36 games,

According to Darryl Hunt, who used to cover the Worcester Sharks, the Sharks have called up Bryan Lerg from the Barracuda. He was definitely a go-to source for years for Worcester news.

The Sharks have not yet confirmed the call-up.

Lerg is the captain of the Barracuda. In 3 games played this year, he has 2 goals. He just scored his second goal of the year in last night’s game against Bakersfield.

Last season, Lerg put up 13 goals and 28 assists in 68 games with Worcester before being called up by San Jose at the end of the season for 2 games. He scored against Edmonton in his NHL debut on April 9th.
