Sharks sign Marcus Sorensen

The San Jose Sharks released a statement this afternoon announcing the signing of left winger Marcus Sorensen to a standard entry level contract.

Sorensen is a 23 years old, 5’11, 170 pound native of Sodertalje, Sweden. He has 15 goals and 19 assists in 47 games played for Djurgardens IF in the Swedish Hockey League. He won rookie of the year for the SHL last season after scoring 32 points and making a playoff appearance. He also played for Sweden in the 2015 Euro Hockey Tour.

Sorensen was drafted in the fourth round of the NHL Draft in 2010 by the Ottawa Senators. The Sens didn’t sign him by the June 1, 2012 deadline, which is how he’s able to sign with the Sharks now. He’s played for Djurgarden since the 2012-2013 season. I would expect to see him playing with the Barracuda next season. You can check out Sorensen’s hockeydb page here.
