Sharks take step backwards, lose 5-2 to Oilers
The Sharks have used their improving play throughout the losing streak to suggest that the team is on their way out of this current stretch of substandard play. Tonight, I don't know if there's much of anything to build off of. The defensive lapses, inability to score and perceived lack of effort which have characterized this six game slide were all too present tonight as the Sharks dropped a disappointing match to one of the league's bottom dwellers.
"We're not exactly on top of the standings right now, either," stated an obviously disgusted Ryane Clowe, searching for answers.
Disgust was the general feeling in the locker room, but the coach suggested that this simply wasn't enough. He had a very detailed discussion with Drew Remenda and the press after the game, and made some comments that we haven't heard from the third year head coach to this point.
Instead of writing a detailed post game, I'm going to leave the criticism, analysis and suggestions for improvement to the Sharks' coach. I felt like he was honest and direct in his exchange after the game tonight, and his comments say more than I could ever try to.
