Sharks to wear teal in the playoffs

Friend of the Blog Kevin Kurz reported the Sharks will wear their teal jerseys in the playoffs this year. That’s a big change for a team that’s been married to those “black armor” sweaters since the 2011 playoffs.

As Kurz notes, the plan was for San Jose to make this switch last year, but the whole not-making-the-playoffs thing pushed it off to this year. I’ve never liked the black jerseys in any circumstance and would love to see the heritage jerseys become the alternate next year.

The new, lighter, jerseys introduced in the 2013-14 season signaled this change was coming at some point — allegedly the players preferred the black jersey because they felt lighter. Whether the decision was made because of the 2014 playoff collapse or because someone realized these boring-ass black jerseys needed to go, this is a bit of good news as the Sharks prepare for the playoffs.
