Sharks vs. Avalanche: Wrapping up a road trip in Denver

With the Sharks coming off a big win against the St. Louis Blues on Monday, we’ll (probably) get a first look at the newest members of team teal against one of the worst teams in the NHL on Wednesday. Roman Polak and Nick Spaling are both likely to draw into the lineup against a Colorado team that has the worst fenwick-for percentage (score adjusted, even strength) in the NHL.

The Avalanche have miraculously stayed alive in the playoff race thanks in part to the general weakness of the Pacific Division in conjunction with the underperformance of the Minnesota Wild up to this point. They don’t seem long for the playoff world in my opinion, but neither did the Flames last season, so…anything can happen.

Last Meeting

San Jose couldn’t have gone into the all-star break with a much better game. The Sharks scored six times, Joe Thornton got his 1,300th point…it was a good time.
