Sharks vs. Blues: We love you Dan Boyle

The Sharks are winning hockey games again and now play host to the St. Louis Blues. San Jose thumped the Blues when they last met, that time in St. Louis, but it was hardly the story of the game. Instead, Maxim Lapierre boarded Dan Boyle from behind, thereby ruining the hockey game and putting himself on Sharks’ fans’ shit lists forever. Lapierre is slated to play on the fourth line for St. Louis tonight, and you know what that means.

It’s Matt Pelech’s time to shine. This is the moment he has waited his entire life for! And if Pelech gets a game misconduct, the Sharks still have Mike Brown to slide in there! Don’t you see the brilliance of this plan?*

*This is a horrible plan.

While this matchup did not hold up to expectations last time, both teams remain evenly matched, as indicated by their records. The Sharks are coming off a shootout victory over another team they are very even with, the LA Kings. They had another three days off. The Sharks are Correlaton-Not-Causation when they get three days off between games.

St. Louis has won eight of their last 10 and five in a row, including a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night. According to the #fancystats the Blues are very good at hockey. They are a top five Corsi/Fenwick team, so the Sharks are going to have their hands full. The Sharks last early afternoon game came against the Ottawa Senators and San Jose won that game 5-2.

Joe Thornton scored two goals [including the game-winner in the shootout] so someone needs to go reset the games-since-Joe-Thornton-scored clock. No, no, leave the games-since-Joe-Thornton-TRIED-to-score clock alone.

It’s the day after Thanksgiving, but I think I speak for the FTF community when I say I’m thankful for Dan Boyle. A lot of the story of this game is going to be Maxim Lapierre, but I think it would be cool if we tried to make this game about Dan Boyle as much as possible. Thanks for being back, Boyler, we missed you. Go score five goals.
