Sharks vs. Coyotes Preview: Stalock Set to Start

Alex Stalock gets the nod in the crease as the Sharks host the Coyotes in their preseason home opener.

Alex Stalock will make his first start of the preseason tonight as the Sharks host the Arizona Coyotes in their preseason home opener. The Sharks look to improve to 2-1 on the exhibition campaign, after splitting a pair

Head Coach Peter DeBoer said yesterday that Stalock will "probably" play all 60 minutes against the Desert Dogs. Stalock made the trip to British Colombia for the Sharks' first two preseason games, but did not play in either game. The University of Minnesota-Duluth product has big skates to fill in the crease, after Martin Jones' 30 save shutout in Vancouver on Tuesday.

Last Meeting

The Sharks dropped a must-win in Glendale to the lottery-bound Coyotes, effectively killing their postseason chances and all-but ensuring the organization's streak of consecutive playoff appearances would end at ten.

  • Melker Karlsson is still dealing with an undisclosed injury, and likely won't play in either of the Sharks' games this weekend. But, the Swedish forward is "progressing nicely" according to Coach DeBoer, and could rejoin the team soon.
  • There's a good chance we'll get to hear the new goal song tonight. Your suggestions were more inspiring than the Sharks' options, but I think we'll all find a way to deal with it as long as the song isn't by Nickelback.
