Sharks vs. Ducks Preview: Back at it in Anaheim

Following a great All-Star weekend, the Sharks hit the ice in Anaheim for the final time in the regular season. The Ducks currently lead the season series 1-2 and this is San Jose’s final chance to even things up.

After starting the season with a putrid offensive display, the Ducks are finally starting to put pucks in the back of the net. They’re one of the best possession teams in the league, but their 98.4 PDO tells you everything you a lot of what you need to know about their struggles.

Now five points back of the Sharks in the standings, the Ducks are in a good position to make a late-season push so long as they can put their shooting percentage woes behind them. For the Sharks, a win over the Ducks can further solidify their hunt for a Pacific Division title (or more likely home-ice against these Ducks, should it come to that).

After a long layoff, we’ll see how the Sharks play coming out of the gate. Tomas Hertl was playing very well entering the All-Star break, as was Matt Nieto. It’d be nice to see those guys get out to a hot start again (and seeing Joe Thornton’s nine-game point streak continue wouldn’t hurt either).
