There isn’t much left to cheer for with the Sharks this season as they play their second-to-last game tonight in Edmonton before heading off into a playoff-less spring, but 29-year-old career minor leaguer Bryan Lerg finally making his big-league debut after a false start on Monday provides a nice story in an otherwise meaningless game. On the other side of the rink, Oilers goalie Laurent Brossoit will be making his NHL debut as well.

• Speaking of NHL debuts, Oilers prospect Curtis Hamilton will also suit up with the big club for the first time in his career.
• Mike Brown and Barclay Goodrow, who was sent down to Worcester yesterday to help with their playoff push, are out for the Sharks with Lerg and John Scott drawing in.
• Antti Niemi is in net for the Sharks but Todd McLellan won’t announce who he intends to start on Saturday against Los Angeles. Presumably that will be decided by the outcome of tonight’s Kings-Flames game that determines whether L.A. will still be alive in the playoff hunt in the season finale./
