  • In order to open up the roster spot necessary to sign Scott Gomez, the Sharks placed Brent Burns on injured reserve, as expected. Burns has reportedly not skated since the start of training camp. [CSN Bay Area]

  • Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith, who was third in the league with a .930 SV% last season, suffered a lower body injury and left the game during the first period of last night's win over Columbus.
