Thursday Chum Bucket: Marleau skates in Arizona

  • Patrick Marleau is one of the few Sharks forwards who hasn’t signed in another league during the NHL lockout. This week, he’s been skating in Scottsdale, Ariz. along with other NHL stars like Sidney Crosby, Shane Doan, Ray Whitney, Brenden Morrow, Keith Yandle, Zbynek Michalek, Ryan Miller and Mike Smith. [CSN Bay Area]
  • From the “really puts this stupid lockout into perspective” department, Minnesota Wild goaltender Josh Harding was tragically diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Best wishes to Harding and his family. [Star Tribune]
  • How accurate were those NHL franchise valuations Forbes published yesterday? Not very, according to Tyler Dellow, and based on their public comments in the past most owners would probably agree with him. [mc79hockey]
  • Speaking of the owners, they and the players’ association held their first meetings with federal mediators yesterday. More of those are expected today. Yawn. [Pro Hockey Talk]
  • Gary Bettman draws the majority of public ire since it’s easy to hate on him but the real asshole behind the curtain has always been Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs. Joe Haggerty calls him out on it with a column that drew rebuke from Jacobs for allegedly misrepresenting the facts. [CSN New England]
  • Graphic Comments’ posts on the Nation network are always phenomenal but this might be the best of the best. [Canucks Army]
  • Patrick Kane and Tyler Seguin missed team picture day for their Swiss League club. Photoshop to the rescue! [Backhand Shelf]
