Video: Watch Tomas Hertl score eight seconds into a game against Sweden

Tomas Hertl would love to be scoring goals like the one he ripped top corner on a partial breakaway eight seconds into today’s IIHF World Championship preliminary round game between Czech Republic and Sweden against the Anaheim Ducks in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Alas, the Sharks were eliminated by the Kings and while most of his San Jose teammates have returned home for the summer, Hertl is on a rink in Belarus doing awesome things like this:

The goal was terrific but the real highlight of Hertl’s tournament so far has been centering a line that features his childhood idol Jaromir Jagr, who was in the midst of his fourth season with the Pittsburgh Penguins when Hertl was born. The duo combined on a scoring play that tied the Czechs’ opening game against Slovakia late in the third period, leading to this adorable moment:
