World Junior Championships Sharks Roundup: Noah Rod scores for Swiss

Welcome to our first day of WJC Sharks Roundup. Throughout the tournament we’ll offer a small breakdown on the play of each San Jose prospect (with video when available). Two of the three Sharks involved in the tournament got on the scoresheet to open an exciting first day of WJC action.

Sweden 8, Switzerland 3

Noah Rod (2nd round, 2014)

Not a lot went well for team Switzerland today, as the Swiss were soundly defeated by Sweden 8-3. Rod had one of those three goals to go with a pair of penalty minutes and two shots on goal. Rod’s goal came with 12:49 left in the second period as he deftly tipped a shot in front of the net to net Switzerland’s second goal.

Timo Meier (first round, 2015)

While the Sharks first round pick from this past summer didn’t find the back of the net for Switzerland, he did lead the team with shots on goal (five). He also had a pair of penalty minutes.
