Game Fifty-Eight Wrapup: New York Rangers 3, San Jose Sharks 1

Okay, maybe I should stop ragging on Patrick Marleau. With him out of the lineup, the Sharks are 0-3. However, not only 0-3. A miserable 0-3.

The Sharks lost this game due to fundamentally poor play. They constantly either directly gave the puck away, or mangled passes to where their teammate couldn't take and maintain control. It's inexcusable at this level to constantly muff the basics of the game, yet that's exactly what the Sharks did.

The main culprits in this were Tomas Plihal, Matt Carle, and (again) Christian Ehrhoff. The fourth line of Jody Shelley, Joe Pavelski, and Jeremy Roenick played well, but it wasn't enough. Not nearly enough.

The Sharks have got to get it together. And fast.
