The big day is finally here! And by “big day” I mean a groggy morning of surreptitiously watching a pirated stream of TSN’s TradeCentre at work as eight Canadian dudes feverishly report and break down a deal sending Ryan Smyth to the Avalanche for a 4th round pick. At any rate, the NHL’s trade deadline occurs today at noon pacific and while the Sharks aren’t necessarily expected to be a player, they were linked to Devin Setoguchi and Thomas Vanek yesterday.
Initial reports about Vanek possibly being headed to San Jose were unsurprisingly debunked, but Setoguchi remains a possibility as the Winnipeg Free Press’ Gary Lawless reported the ex-Shark forward could be headed back to San Jose along with grinder Chris Thorburn for James Sheppard, Tyler Kennedy and Adam Burish. We’ll see if it happens, although David Pollak (unfortunately) doesn’t think Burish is going anywhere.
Feel free to discuss the day’s happenings here. We’ll update the site with coverage of any Sharks moves that go down.
