Sharks trade forward Vincent Praplan to Panthers

The San Jose Barracuda announced that they have traded forward Vincent Praplan to the Florida Panthers for future considerations. Praplan will report to the Panthers’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.

In 27 games with the Barracuda this season, Praplan scored four goals and 12 assists for a total of 16 points. Praplan suffered multiple injuries throughout the season that kept him out of the lineup, most recently keeping him out for about a month. But even aside from injuries, the 24-year-old struggled to find his footing with the Barracuda.

“We would like to thank Vincent for his contributions to the Barracuda … this trade will allow for [him] to continue to grow in his professional career and allows an opportunity for our younger players to have an advanced role going forward.” said Barracuda General Manager Joe Will.

Praplan was signed to a one-year, $1.35 million entry-level contract by the San Jose Sharks as a free agent on March 2, 2018, while playing for the Swiss National League’s EHC Kloten.
