Sharks re-sign 4 pending restricted free agents

All four four players were Barracuda regulars in 2019-20.

On Monday, the San Jose Sharks signed four pending restricted free agents to contract extensions, all of them from the 2019-20 AHL Barracuda.

Defender Jacob Middleton, 24, played the majority of the 2019-20 season with the Barracuda, playing in 32 games and scoring 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists). He was called up to the NHL for 10 games, tallying 2 assists. He signed a two-year, two-way contract with a $725,000 cap hit.

Center Maxim Letunov also got a glimpse of NHL action last season, scoring his first NHL goal while playing three games with the big club. In 50 games with the Barracuda, the 24-year-old notched 40 points (12 goals, 28 assists). He signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $700,000.

Nicolas Meloche wasn’t inspiring in his 41 games with the ‘Cuda last season, tallying just 7 assists. But the 23-year-old defender once showed a lot of promise. He’s signed for one more year on a two-way, $700,000 deal.

Finally, forward Jayden Halbgewachs has signed a two-year, two-way deal worth $725,000. The 23-year-old forward was beginning to find his scoring touch again with the ‘Cuda last season. He’s a fun player that I hope works his way up to an NHL gig, especially as a player who went undrafted.
