Barracuda vs. Gulls Game 3 Gamethread

The San Jose Barracuda try to recreate recent history and take a 2-1 series lead in San Diego tonight. Tonight begins a three game roadstand in Round 2 of the wacky AHL playoffs, so a strong showing could go a long way for the lil’ Sharks (please don’t tell them I called them that).

Ryan Carpenter is a beast these playoffs, first in the postseason in goals (6), points (T-10), and plus-minus (+8). The Barracuda also cleaned their power play stats up a bit in Game 2, and are now 3 for 7 in the second round, after a disappointing 1 for 22 in the first round against Stockton. Last, since we’re all still clearly celebrating the success of our dear departed Tommy Wingels, Buddy Robinson has six points this postseason, so our Sharks obviously pulled a fast one on those silly conference-final-bound-think-they’re-so-great-just-because-they-won-more-games-than-us Senators, so there.

Prediction

3-1 Barracuda, Nick DeSimone pots an empty net goal from his own goal line. Barclay Goodrow retires from hockey to start a hedge fund, like his parents clearly wanted since they named him Barclay freakin’ Goodrow.
