There’s nothing quite like watching the first game after a trade deadline and feeling real, genuine confidence in your GM and team. Especially when the team across the bench made all the wrong moves.
We’re still in the acclimation period, so it may be a few games before we see what these post-trade deadline teams are really going to look like down the stretch. There’s kinks to be worked out, line combinations to try, and of course, putting away a few post-trade goals.
Our friend Tommy Wingels did just that, having himself a two point night (one goal, one assist) with the Boston Bruins in their 4-3 overtime victory over Carolina. A Pacific Division pick up, Ryan Reaves, made an impact in his first game with the Golden Knights last night, but for all the wrong reasons. A nasty hit on Derek Forbort in Vegas’ 4-1 loss to L.A. makes the prospect of facing off against the Golden Knights again seem rather grim.
The Sharks have the night off, so we’ll see how other teams adjust to their new rosters.
