Fear the Five: Happy Hour

Happy Super Bowl Sunday, Sharks fans! This week saw quite a bit of hockey action as the Sharks returned from the All-Star break and managed to retain their second place status in the Pacific Division despite a four-game losing streak. Let’s dive into the highlights from this past week.

#5: Fin-atical Fans

Two Sharks fans recently checked off the thirty-first hockey arena on their NHL arena bucket list at the Nationwide Arena, home of the Columbus Blue Jackets. That takes some serious dedication and frequent flyer miles to travel to all thirty-one NHL barns in North America. Congrats, Teal Couple!

#4: Cue the Music

Woah-hio 🎶

There’s nothing quite like guitar-heavy riffs from The Black Keys to amp up any hockey video. This one is made all the sweeter thanks to the Sharks snapping their four-game losing streak against Columbus. Woah-hio indeed!

#3: Throwback Thursday

Brodie Brazil has been covering the Sharks for nine years now. His photo for throwback Thursday in honor of that was a great trip down memory lane, circa 2011. Who are those two beardless players with him?

(Spoiler alert: That’s Joe Thornton on the left and Joe Pavelski on the right.)

#2: Cuteness Overload

Everyone knows that Marc-Édouard Vlasic loves dogs. I think, however, none of us were prepared for the overwhelming cuteness of Pickles with a puppy in need of adoption. Don’t worry, Alice went to a Pickles-approved, Sharks-loving family.

#1: Sound the Horn

It’s not every day that a Sharks player scores their two hundredth career goal. While the Sharks couldn’t get the W against the Penguins on Tuesday, Couture banked a clean shot past Matt Murray for a career record and highlight-worthy point. Congrats, Couture!

Bonus: Legendary

In case you missed it, Jaromir Jagr has ended his NHL career after an astonishing 24 seasons. Hockey fans around the world paid tribute to his incredible career that, for many millennial fans, spanned a length of time longer than they have been watching the game. Even Sharkie paid tribute to the man whose mullet knew no bounds.

That’s for all, folks! The Sharks face the Colorado Avalanche at 6 pm PST on Tuesday.
