In honor of the Sharks‘ upcoming 25th season in the NHL, the team officially unveiled three new commemorative logos today, one of which was first seen on the jersey worn by Timo Meier when he was announced as the Sharks’ first round pick at the NHL draft on Friday. That’s this one, which will be worn as a patch on all of the team’s jerseys during the 2015-16 season:
That patch is derived from this new variation on the team’s primary logo, one that features a full shark tail:
And here’s the third commemorative mark revealed today which pays tribute to the team’s original logo:
In addition to wearing the new “Heritage Jerseys” (which I’m hoping bear a great deal of resemblance to the original sweaters) at select games next season the Sharks also announced this list of 25th anniversary-related events scheduled for next season:
During the 2015-16 campaign, fans will have the opportunity to re-connect with players from the team’s past as many former members will be brought back to SAP Center and recognized. A full list of participating players and a schedule of events will be released at a later date.
Other engagement activities planned for the 25th anniversary season include:
- A season-long season ticket holder recognition program
- 25th anniversary giveaway nights
- Fan contests
- Fan-selected Sharks all-time first and second team
- Fan participation throwback nights
- Enhanced 25th anniversary-themed content on sjsharks.com
- Much more to be announced
