Marc-Edouard Vlasic named to Team Canada

Marc-Edouard Vlasic will represent Team Canada at the Hockey World Championships, beginning on May 5. As is often the case with the Worlds, it was only a question of health and willingness for Vlasic; it was never a matter of whether Team Canada would want him to participate.

This is the third time Vlasic has played in the World Championships and the first time since 2012. He has played in seven games total and hasn’t recorded a point yet. So that’s something to shoot for this year, I suppose. He does have a whopping four penalty minutes.

Vlasic played in six games for Team Canada during the World Cup of Hockey and recorded four assists. Those are the only points he’s recorded in 19 games of international duty for Team Canada. That 0.21 points per game pace is just slightly off his 0.25 points per game pace in the NHL.

The tournament runs from May 5-21 in Paris, France and Cologne, Germany.
