NHL Draft 2019: Sharks trade Francis Perron, 215th pick to Vancouver

During the middle of the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Draft, the San Jose Sharks struck a deal with the hosting Vancouver Canucks. The Sharks sent left winger Francis Perron, who the Sharks acquired along with Erik Karlsson from the Ottawa Senators last summer, to the Canucks along with the 215th overall pick. Perron spent this past season with the San Jose Barracuda, where he recorded 47 points (18 goals, 29 assists) in 63 games.

The Sharks received the 164th overall pick and Tom Pyatt from the Canucks. Pyatt is a 32-year-old forward who split time between the Ottawa Senators (0 goals, 2 assists in  37 games) and the Canucks’ AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets. Pyatt recorded 19 points (six goals and 13 assists) in 36 games with the Comets. Pyatt is a pending unrestricted free agent.

Update: According to Kevin Kurz, Pyatt was only part of the trade because Vancouver was at the 50-contract maximum.
