Paul Martin placed on IR, Joakim Ryan to make debut

The Sharks have placed Paul Martin on Injured Reserve for an ankle injury. Martin had surgery on it this summer, but left practice on Tuesday after only 10 minutes and hasn’t returned to the ice since. He’s listed as day-to-day.

Joakim Ryan gets the first call up and it appears the 24-year-old will make his NHL debut tonight. Per Paul Gackle, Ryan was taking line rushes with Brent Burns, bumping Dylan DeMelo to the seventh defender position.

The pairings for tonight will likely keep Justin Braun and Marc-Edouard Vlasic together, Ryan with Burns, and Tim Heed with Brenden Dillon.

Tonight will be Tim Heed’s second NHL game, the first this season.
