Predators trade Shea Weber for P.K. Subban; Oilers trade Taylor Hall to Devils

We got two blockbuster trades within 30 minutes of each other today. First, The Edmonton Oilers traded Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson. Then, the Montreal Canadiens traded P.K. Subban to the Nashville Predators for Shea Weber.

Both deals are said to be straight-up.

Update: Steven Stamkos will remain in Tampa Bay, per Hockey’s Grandpa.

Here are the relevant sources on both of these trades:

Both will impact Western Conference teams (you know, like the Sharks or whatever) as Subban, one of the best defenders in the league, joins the Predators and talented forward Hall leaves the conference. This seems like a big win for Nashville, who managed to upgrade on Shea Weber (which, yikes) and New Jersey, who absolutely fleeced Edmonton.

Here is the HERO Chart comparison for Subban and Weber. All charts from Own The Puck
