After beating the Anaheim Ducks 4-1 on Tuesday night, the Sharks hope to replicate their success at the Honda Center tonight.
Special teams could stand to improve: the Sharks failed to score on their four power plays, while the Anton Rodin converted on one of their three power plays for the only Anaheim goal.
The Sharks put 40 shots on Ducks goalies Jared Coreau and Kevin Boyle. If they can do that again, they’ll be in good shape. Russian prospect Ivan Chekhovich drove the first game for the Sharks, scoring two goals and adding an assist.
Coach Peter DeBoer has said he’s planning to continue evaluating the young players in the next few games. The hype for Erik Karlsson will have to keep building; he won’t make his debut in teal just yet. But we’ll see how the roster changes for the Sharks tonight. They haven’t announced any cuts yet and prospects SashaChmelevski and Jeremy Roy were healthy scratches for the first preseason game.
Tonight’s game will be shown on NHL Network in the United States.
