Sharks at Canucks Preview: Welcome home, Martin Jones

Tonight is a tale of two totally different teams right now as the hot San Jose Sharks visit the cold Vancouver Canucks on a back-to-back on their Western Canada road trip.

The Sharks enter tonight sitting in third place in the Pacific Division with a record of 17-10-3, whereas the Canucks are currently sixth place in the Pacific Division with a record of 14-14-4.

The Sharks are coming off a huge 3-2 win against the Calgary Flames last night as a result of strong efforts from goalie Aaron Dell and young guns Timo Mier and Chris Tierney. San Jose is currently on a four-game point streak after defeating the Hurricanes, Senators and the Flames and losing in overtime against the Wild.

The Sharks have scored 16 goals on their current four-game point streak and a big part of that has come from star D-man, Brent Burns. Burns is currently on a tear with three goals and three assists in his last four games. The 32-year-old Barrie native has finally found his game after struggling to start the season on the right foot, which is good news for the Sharks.

The Canucks, on the other hand, are coming off an embarrassing 7-1 loss against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday night. Vancouver let up a season high 48 shots in the loss and let defenseman PK Subban score two goals against them, one from center ice.

The Canucks are currently playing their worst hockey of the year, as they are on a four-game losing streak and have lost seven out of their last 10 games.

Canucks rookie Brock Boeser remains the only bright spot in the lineup over the past few weeks. Currently leading the NHL in rookie scoring, Boeser has a four-game point streak with 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points in 29 games this year.

Couture (25), Thornton (21) and Hertl (18) enter tonight leading the Sharks in points this year, whereas Boeser (29), Horvat (20) and Henrik Sedin (19) lead the way for the Canucks.

Puck drop is at 7:00 Pacific at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
