The San Jose Sharks have reassigned forwards Noah Gregor and Alexander True to the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL.
Gregor, a 22-year-old center, is in his second NHL season, playing in 28 games with the Sharks last year and scoring three goals and two assists. In 25 games with the Barracuda that same year, he totaled seven goals and 12 assists.
In 15 NHL games so far this season, Gregor has scored three goals and put 21 shots on goal. His 14.29 shooting percentage is among the best on the team, tied for second with Tomas Hertl and Rudolfs Balcers. As a center, an area of improvement is likely the faceoff circle, where he’s won just 28.57 percent of his draws (currently only two Sharks players, Logan Couture and Evander Kane, are over 50 percent in the faceoff circle).
Gregor was drafted by the Sharks in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Draft, 111th overall, out of the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL.
True, another center, has played in just two NHL games this season, going scoreless and taking two minor penalties and two shots on goal. Last year, he played in 14 Sharks games where he tallied four assists.
The 23-year-old serves as an alternate captain of the Barracuda. In six AHL games, he’s put up two goals and three assists. Over four seasons with the Barracuda, True has played in 182 games, totaling 52 goals and 61 assists.
The Sharks signed True as a free agent on July 18, 2018, following his rookie campaign with the Barracuda. He previously played for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL and represented Denmark internationally.
