There are a lot of exciting prospects in the Sharks’ development system and from time to time it’s fun to check in on them and see how they’re developing. San Jose holds the rights to nine players in the NCAA. Some of them are signed and others are not. How they play over the next few months could be all it takes to earn an NHL contract in the spring.
Eli Barnett (D) – University of Vermont
Drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 NHL Draft, Barnett is in his first season with the University of Vermont. The freshman debuted on Oct. 13, in a 3-1 win over St. Lawrence. Barnett was back in the lineup the next day at Clarkson University. While the Catamounts lost to Clarkson 2-3, Barnett finished the game a plus-1. He has yet to register a point.
Michael Fisher (D) – Northeastern University NCAA
Fisher is in his first season at Northeastern University and his coach is excited to have him in the fold.
“A high-end skater that can break pucks out and start transition. He’s got great feet defensively with excellent edges. Michael has the ability to be involved in the offense while using his skating to recover. He brings a dynamic element to our defensive core with a lot of ability,” Huskies Head Coach Jerry Keefe said of Fisher when asked about the 13 new players on the roster this season.
Fisher has yet to score a point for Northeastern University in his first two games on the team.
Reese Laubach (F) – Penn State NCAA
San Jose native and San Jose Sharks draftee Laubach is in his first season with Penn State. Laubach has played two games (both wins for the Nittany Lions) but has yet to register a point.
Cameron Lund (F) – Northeastern University NCAA
Lund is also at Northeastern with fellow prospect Fisher. The sophomore skater has a goal and three assists in his first two games with the Huskies. Three of those points came on Oct. 7 during the Huskies’ home opener, when the team defeated Stonehill 7-0.

Joey Muldowney (F) – University of Connecticut NCAA
Muldowney is in his first season with the University of Connecticut after playing in the USHL last season. The freshman has played two games for the Huskies this season and earned an assist on a power play goal by Jake Richard. Unfortunately, UConn lost the Oct. 13 game against Holy Cross 1-2.
How about that hand eye coordination👀

The Bemidji State Beavers were down 2-1 to Army West Point on Oct. 14 when Pohlkamp crept in over the blueline and fired the puck into the net for the game tying goal. He had seven shots on goal during the game. Bemidji went on to win the game in overtime.
Will Smith (F) – Boston College
No goals yet for young Smith but it’s only a matter of time. The forward had an assist on Andre Gasseau’s goal to give Boston the lead over Long Island University on Oct. 13. It was a power play goal on a cross ice pass from Smith.

Timofel Spitserov (F) – University of Vermont NCAA
In his third season with the University of Vermont, Spitserov is still angling for his first point of the year. In two games with the Catamounts he has five shots on goal.
Alex Young – Arizona State University NCAA
So far so good for Young at Arizona State University. The forward transferred to ASU in the summer after his coach at Colgate University retired. Young registered a goal in the team’s 4-1 win over Merrimack Oct. 14.
