Registration open to watch Sharks development camp scrimmage
The live-streamed broadcast is the only viewing option to watch the prospects duke it out.
If you’re itching to watch hockey that matters, this is about the closest you’ll get before October: the San Jose Sharks prospect development camp is up and running as of this morning and on Thursday, they’ll host a free live-streamed scrimmage between prospects. Get your first look at the 2021 Sharks draft class and start imagining what they could bring to the roster in the next few years.
While the stream will be free, you do have to pre-register in order to watch. Follow this link to make sure to reserve your spot! The event goes live at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 19, with a pre-game show 15 minutes beforehand.
If you can’t tune in, an audio stream of broadcasters Dan Rusanowsky, Bret Hedican and Nick Nollenberger will be available through the Sharks + SAP Center App. There will be no admittance for the general public at SAP Center.
The scrimmage will not be a typical NHL game — while there will be three 20-minute periods with a 15-minute intermission between each, there will be no special teams. Instead, all penalties will result in a penalty shot. Regardless of score, the event will conclude with a five-round shootout.
The broadcast will be interactive, taking fan questions via Twitter and featuring “various players, personalities and Sharks hockey staff” providing commentary, per the release.
