Sharks announce 2023 Rookie Faceoff roster

2023 draftees Quentin Musty and Kasper Halttunen will be among the Sharks prospects wearing teal for San Jose in Vegas next week. It’s all part of the annual Rookie Faceoff that will feature prospects from the Sharks, Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights.

The Sharks will start round robin play on Sept. 15 against the Kings’ rookies. That game will be played at City National Arena in Las Vegas. On Sept. 16, it’s a showdown with the Golden Knights’ prospects, this time at Dollar Loan Center in Henderson. Finally, on Sept. 18, the prospects are back in Vegas for their final game against the Coyotes’ prospects.

You can listen to all three games on the Sharks Audio Network through the Sharks + SAP Center app. San Jose Barracuda play-by-play broadcaster Nick Nollenberger will call the action for all Sharks games throughout the tournament. You can also live stream through the Sharks website – sjsharks.com.

This year’s rookie tournament roster will feature some new faces as well as some familiar ones from the Barracuda. 2023 fourth overall draft pick Will Smith will not play; his classes have already started for his freshman year at Boston College. However, you will see players like other draftees like Musty, Halttunen and Luca Cagnoni.

Speaking of Cagnoni, maybe we’ll see a little of this at the rookie tournament.

The Barracuda players on the roster include Thomas Bordeleau, Brandon Coe, William Eklund, Daniil Gushchin, Tristen Robins, Henry Thrun and Shakir Mukhamadullin. Other forwards include Ethan Cardwell, Mitchell Russell and Ozzy Wiesblatt.

On defense, we’ll get a look at Valtteri Pulli and see how Gannon Laroque is recovering from his injury from last season.

In net for the Sharks will be Mason Beaupit, Magnus Chrona and Georgi Romanov.

You can find the full roster here.
